My Art Coner: Fairy Winter
I love your work for The Sims 4. You had made so many bathroom walls for the Sims 3 that I loved and I was wondering if you would allow me to recreate them for Sims 4. I would include a link to your blog and give you credits, of course. My e-mail address is its_marmy@yahoo.com.
Thank you,
Marsha

Sports
Do you like sports? I like sports. But just some sports, not all of them. I like Soccer, Hockey, Football, and Baseball. I'm one of those types of fans that sits and watches games and wonder to myself WHAT THE HECK ARE THEY DOING? No, I know the games and know the rules. I mean, I wonder what the heck the management is doing. Everyone loves to back a winning team and few have the heart to stick with a losing team.
I was a diehard Cowboys fan until Jerry Jones bought the team and then fired coach Landry in the most callous and humiliating way possible. Well, that killed that team. In more ways than one. So, I switched my loyalties to the Texans. I knew they were an expansion team and it would take a while to make it into a contender. Then they went to the playoffs! The whole time I kept telling my son that Matt Schaub would not perform as needed to get them into super bowl contention. See?? Yes?? I think I was right. We'll see what the season has in store for them this fall. Hopefully they will be back on top. Everyone loves to back a winning team and few have the heart to stick with a losing team. But I tell ya, by the end of last season, I was definitely thinking hard about becoming a Broncos fan.
I'm also a fan of the Texas Rangers. Man, I love that team. Until lately, when they lost/traded away a lot of their good players. Some of them I could see being traded.(C.J. Wilson and Josh Hamilton for starters) But why trade Ian Kinsler, Michael Young, David Murphy? Good solid players that produced!! After the management traded all those guys away, I told my dad that the only way they can survive is if they come up with a good pitching staff. Well, good luck on that. Yes, they have some good ones, but they are all injured and were coming into the season (with the exception of Yu Darvish). What is up with this??? Can't you guys draft good pitchers? What's the deal, lack of funds? I'll tell you what I think the deal is....they wouldn't listen to Nolan Ryan so he wound up leaving the management and they depended on Jon Daniels. I hear so much about what a wiz kid he is, but now I don't think I believe it. Or is it the pitching coach, Mike Maddux? Is he really a good coach? I think they need to get down to the nitty gritty of the problems on the team and do what it takes to create a winning team. The fans had a whiff of success and we want more! Particularly NOT what we've seen so far this year. Something is off in that locker room and it needs to be fixed. We'll see what the second half of the season has to show. I hope they turn around and become a winning team again.
I'd love to hear what you think....

Welcome!
This is the first of what I hope are many postings for this blog. Please keep in mind I'm just testing the waters on this blogging thing. My idea is to just write about whatever pops into my head and see where it takes me. I've been writing a book for the past few years, my first attempt at writing so I may wind up posting chapters from the book and if everyone likes it, I'll keep doing it. I'm close to finishing it, but don't have an ending in mind yet.
Just a little background about me... I'm a grandmother and have 6 grandkids, have gone through a lot in my life, and am currently unemployed. Boy, trying to get a job, especially at my age, is horrendous. I'm the primary caretaker for my 90 year old Dad. I love playing video games, hate shopping, loathe the grocery store (it's a necessary evil in my books), and love spending time with my grandkids. Their attitudes and logic can be absolutely hilarious at times as well as infuriating.
I love to read and go to movies, but not chick flicks. The way I see it is, who wants to go to a movie that will make you cry when there's already enough in this old world to do the trick? Unless, of course, you want to cry. Yeah, yeah, I have heard the old adage "there are good cries and bad cries", but in my book it's all bad. It just makes your face puffy, your eyelids puffy (and I DEFINITELY don't need that at my age) and gives you a headache.
There's a lot of research out on the internet about "good cries and bad cries", did you know that? There are three types of tears. Basal tears that just lubricate your eyes, reflex tears that you shed when you get something in your eyes, or perhaps you laughed so hard you shed tears, and then there's emotional tears, those tears you cry when you are sad, mad, incensed, depressed, happy, excited, etc. I think women cry more than men because that's just the way we are built. More emotional, empathetic, and nurturing than men. Wikipedia has this to say about tears (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tears) " In humans, emotional tears can be accompanied by reddening of the face and sobbing — cough-like, convulsive breathing, sometimes involving spasms of the whole upper body. Tears brought about by emotions have a different chemical make-up than those for lubrication; emotional tears contain more of the protein-based hormones prolactin, adrenocorticotropic hormone, and leucine enkephalin (a natural painkiller) than basal or reflex tears. The limbic system is involved in production of basic emotional drives, such as anger, fear, etc. The limbic system, to be specific, the hypothalamus, also has a degree of control over the autonomic system. The parasympathetic branch of the autonomic nervous system controls the lacrimal glands via the neurotransmitter acetylcholine through both the nicotinic and muscarinic receptors." So there you have the science of tears and the reason your nose always runs when you cry.
Crying is also therapeutic. It can relieve your mind and give you a chance to regroup and attack whatever problem can be in your path. It can also signal you that there just might be something more involved going on in your body. For example, if you cry for what you might think is no good reason, your body might be trying to tell you that you are depressed. This is a time to step back and check into the symptoms of depression or go see a doctor. It could wind up being nothing, but then again.....depression is not a hole that you want to fall into without having some help to dig your way out.
I've heard some scientists say that crying flushes out toxins from our body. Not too sure that's true, but it seems to be believable. Unlike the thing advertised that if you put special socks on your feet at night, it draws toxins from your body into the special pads in the socks. To me it seems that those socks would do nothing more than make you sweat at night. I know I couldn't wear them all night.
Anyway, so much for my first posting. I hope you will enjoy my blog as time goes by and will become a follower of mine.
And as the grandmother in me always has to tell my grandchildren.....be careful in the paths you choose, they might not lead to the things you most desire.
